Five Peaks Virtual Challenge

I'm taking Canteen's Five Peaks Virtual Challenge...

…a month-long challenge to cover 68km in March - the combined trail distance of Australia’s five highest peaks.

Every year, 23,000 young Australians face the mountain that is a cancer journey. Whether facing their own cancer diagnosis, or dealing with a loved one’s cancer journey, climbing that peak means feeling isolated, lost, exhausted, and confused.

It’s terrifying, and no one should face it alone. That’s why I’m challenging myself and I need your support!

Please sponsor me today and make every km count! All funds raised will help young people, facing their hardest climb, get free access to Canteen’s cancer counselling, peer support and specialised in-hospital care.

Thank you for your support!

My Updates

Day 6 and I shaved off another 2 mins

Thursday 6th Mar
I did it 3.4km in 45 minutes that is a total of 5 minutes off day ones time.
I am feeling stronger and the fluid retention in my feet and legs has decreased as well. I am tired though.
New time target 40 mins.
Thanks everyone for your support and sponsorship in this first week I really appreciate it.

I thought day 3 was bad

Tuesday 4th Mar
Just finished my 3.4k for today and I have a routine starting. Get up, go to the toilet, throw on yesterdays clothes, feed the fur babies, make the housemate his morning cup of tea, put on my runners and out the door, there was no protesting thoughts about having the day off but oh my did my body provide heaps of physical protest, my hamstrings and lower back have decided not to play nice. Day 31 should be good. LOL

03.03.2025

Monday 3rd Mar
Here we are at day 3 and the metal struggle begins. The body is rebelling having to walk every morning after not doing anything for years and the mind is kicking in with the why bothers and the this is to hards.
But commitment and stubbornness will see me through
Being out and about when the day is brand new and the sun is just coming up is magical

1.03.2025 Day 1

Saturday 1st Mar
Day 1 down with a walk around the block 3.4km in 50 minutes, calcified Achilles tendon went ok, I even managed to wear my runners without to much pain.  Now to get that time down by the end of the challenge, or I could continue with the gentle set me up for the day walks, decisions, decisions.
Feeling ok now lets see how I go tomorrow
